Evermine was founded by Benjamin Güntensperger, a passionate craftsman with a deep-rooted love for timber construction. His journey began in Switzerland at the age of 16, when he started his apprenticeship under the prestigious Holzbau Schweiz, where he mastered the discipline, precision, and tradition of European timber craftsmanship.

In 2008, Ben travelled to South Africa as part of his Wandergesellen journey — a time-honoured tradition of travelling craftsmen refining their skills abroad. It was here that he discovered not only new opportunities, but a country he would soon call home.

Over the years, Ben has contributed to several landmark projects in Cape Town, including “The Arch for the Arch,” the Woodbridge Island Bridge, and most recently, the new Oranjezicht City Farm Market at the V&A Waterfront. These projects reflect both technical excellence and a deep respect for timber as a structural and architectural element.

With more than 20 years of hands-on experience, Ben’s unwavering belief in the strength, beauty, and sustainability of timber led him to establish Evermine. Today, Evermine stands for exceptional craftsmanship, innovative timber solutions, and a commitment to building spaces that are as enduring as they are inspiring.

Evermine’s commitment to excellence in timber construction has been recognised in leading publications. Our work continues to contribute to conversations around sustainable building, craftsmanship, and innovative timber design in South Africa.
